The Second Letter of John

The Elder to the chosen Lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, 2 and not only myself, but also all who know the truth, because of the truth which dwells in us and abides in us forever: 3 Grace, mercy and peace be with you from God the father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of the father, in truth and love.

4 I was very glad to find sons of yours walking in the truth, as we have received commandment from the father. 5 And now I ask you, lady—not as if I were to write you a new commandment, but what we have had from the beginning—that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandment. This is the commandment, as you people have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it, 7 for many deceivers have come into the world denying that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; they are deceivers and anti-Christ. 8 Look to yourselves, that you do not lose the work that you have done, but that you receive a full reward. 9 Everyone that strays and does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in the teaching of Christ has both the father and the son. 10 If anyone should come to you without this teaching, do not take him into your house or so much as greet him, 11 for whoever greets him takes part in his evil deeds.

12 Having much to write you, I prefer not to do so by ink and paper, but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be complete. 13 The sons of your chosen Sister greet you. Amen.
